Can it be washed?

Button Helper is made from the same super-durable material used in Lego bricks - ABS plastic. The magnets themselves are triple coated in a proprietary formula to make them waterproof and highly corrosion-resistant. We recommend you wash them on your shirt alone on a gentle cycle with the detergent of your choice (we love Persil ProClean) and then hang your shirt to dry. If you want to save water and wash your shirt with other clothes, a delicates bag will make sure everything stays safely separated (we love this one). If you want to speed up the drying process, toss your shirt in the dryer on “Tumble / Low Heat.”

Is it safe for DBS or Pacemakers?

Button Helper uses two low-powered magnets and is reasonably far from most medical implants when correctly installed. Our product is strong enough to keep your shirt closed on a moderately windy day, but not much else. If you have a medical implant of any kind, check with your doctor before purchasing, installing, or otherwise handling Button Helper.

Can I remove them?

Button Helper is designed to stay on your shirt through the laundering process. For that reason, it is considered a semi-permanent installation. Your shirt will not be damaged by the correct installation or removal of Button Helper. Button Helper, on the other hand, will be irreversibly damaged upon removal from your shirt. For that reason, we recommend you keep it on your shirt for as long as you want that shirt to be accessible.

If you must remove Button Helper, use a quarter to pop the clip out from the ring around your existing shirt button. On the other side, simply pull the magnet and faux button apart to remove them - take care not to rip the buttonhole during removal.

Are two hands needed for installation?

Absolutely not - check out this demonstration video! It takes a bit more patience, but you can definitely install Button Helper with one hand. We’ll feature a more polished video when the production team can get together in person.
